What decision-making methods were utilized in the case? According to Charles E. Lindblom, there are two types of decision-making methods: the root method and the branch method. The root method, which he also calls he rational-comprehensive method, is an approach to decision-making where an individual chooses an objective and ranks all the relevant values in obtaining the objective. The person making the decision must “formulate many possible alternatives to achieve the stated objective.” This type of method is heavily based upon theory.

In this paper I will give the reader an in depth overview and evaluation of the aforementioned book. Offering researched based reasons to why these school shootings actually happen. They explore the communities of Heath and Westside, the grounds of two horrific acts of rampage shootings by Michael Carnell, Andrew Golden and Mitchell Johnson. They explain various angles of there research such as identifying an issue, how signals given by children can be misinterpreted, the effects of social capital and how mental factors play a role in the acts of the shooters.
On April 20, 1999, two disturbed teenage boys Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris began a killing rampage at Columbine High School in the suburban town of Littleton, Colorado. This was considered one of the worst school shootings to occur at that time. In the morning of April 20, before noon, the two juveniles had killed 13 people to include 12 students and 1 teacher; they also wounded another 23 people before turning the guns on themselves. Columbine High School Massacre and How it Impacted Public Security “Do you believe in God?” This was the last thing Rachel Scott, a recently born-again Christian, had heard before telling Eric Harris yes and then being shot to death at point blank range. This quote is from the infamous Columbine High School mass shooting in Littleton, Colorado. This incident caused much outrage and questioning from many parents and students about the safety of their well-being while in school. The concerns quickly leaked into the minds of US citizens, as nobody felt safe anywhere in public after the tragedy.
When seconds count the police are only minutes away or, in the case of my high school, they are only an hour away. When a school shooting or stabbing happens you want your children to be standing directly behind the police officer; but, what if that’s not possible? What if a blizzard happens and the police have trouble finding your school? If a police officer is not present when a school shooting happens, you want your children to be near the next best thing, an armed teacher who knows how to, and can, protect them.
A simple way to stop school shootings in our district would be by eliminating all the factors that form a school shooter. Most school shooter suffered from bullying or had some sort of mental illness. In order to minimize the chance of a kid becoming a school shooter, we need to increase awareness.
I agree with this policy because many shooters give out many signs before they actually perform their act. I believe they should not arm teachers with guns because then what is the difference between a teacher and the law enforcement. I think they should make sure that every classroom door is locked when it is shut, and it should be required for the door to be shut through the class period. Also, instead of giving teachers guns I think they should mount a fire extinguisher under their desk. This gives the teacher something to spray at the shooter and possibly hit them on top the head with it.

The Vicious Cycle School Shootings Create As school shootings are on the rise, so are students’ fear all across the nation. “According to Everytown for Gun Safety, there have been at least 149 school shootings since 2013, 52 this year alone” (Board). This shows that school shootings have become more prevalent over the years. Violent people who feel depressed, attacked, or alone, may become school shooters. While some feel these may be the causes, others think that accessibility to guns is the number one factor in these attacks.

Since the Columbine High School shooting, school shootings have become a common occurrence. People have become so accustomed to seeing them on the news, so we hardly bat an eye at them anymore. For every instance of a school shooting we see, there are hundreds of lawmakers making public that their thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Frankly, those thoughts and prayers are simply not enough anymore. The Parkland shooting is one of many school shootings, that have brought light to the subject of gun violence in schools, and it is clear, if it hasn’t been one already, that gun regulation needs to change.

There are several causes of death by gun violence, but one of the causes that have become a growing problem is school shootings.
