Talented director Tim Burton has directed multiple movies that express his unique style such as, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride. All of Burtons films are quite different, but the one attribute that is similar is his creepy, suspenseful style. Tim Burton creates his style of suspense by using framing, lighting, and music to keep the audience on the edge of their seats

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Burton used low key lighting in Charlie's house. The house was very small and quiet and the low key lighting in the house made it look warm and comforting. The low key lighting also revealed to the audience the way Charlie lives and how kind his family is. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Burton is known for creating a cheerful and warm mood.

In Edward Scissorhands, Burton uses high key lighting. For example, in the neighborhood it is bright and full of vibrant colors. The neighborhood almost seems unreal, like it is absolutely perfect. High key lighting shows the audience that everything seems angelic, but in reality, it is not. High key lighting is a powerful way Tim Burton expresses his dynamic style.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tim Burton uses suspenseful non-diegetic sound to portray suspense. When a spy was standing outside the factory's gate in the dark, suspenseful music was played.
