Water is something that is everywhere and everyone needs it. In today’s world developing countries are the ones that struggle the most with water pollution issues. But did you know that approximately 40% of the surveyed rivers, lakes, and estuaries in the United States are not clean enough to meet basic uses such as fishing or swimming (EPA). This is almost half of all the water sources in the United States. If the United States struggles with the water pollution issue, and it is supposed to be a leading world power, just imagine how this becomes even worse in developing countries that have less resources. The life of many people in the United States might seem free of polluted waters but if people really focus on their surroundings, they would find out that pollution is everywhere and it affects every community in some way. Government should regulate the way industries treat water sources around the country because all of the major manufacturing companies focus on getting big profits but the issue of water pollution is neglected and treated as a secondary priority, when it should be the first priority for everyone.
