In statement on the articles of impeachment, Barbara Jordan facts that proved Nixon to be irresponsible, dishonest and profoundly involved in illegal situations. Barbara outlined both logical and emotional reasons in her speech to convince the House of Reprenstatives, and the American public that the President Nixon should be impeached. She stated that Nixon authorized break-ins at Democratic campaign headquarters in Washington and that he was involved in many political dirty tricks and improprieties. She added also that the President Nixon had tearing the Constitution and if he he is not stopped, he will use his power given by the White House to commit more crimes. Barbara was emotional and showed that she loves her country which is not the
They had pushed this idea greatly in the Declaration of Independence. The leaders structured the Articles of Confederation to only have a legislative branch giving each of the
Overall, different people have different opinions on the Senate. Some want to abolish, reform or keep it as is. However, I believe it should be reformed to make it more equal for everyone across
I think Barbara Jordan did a great job defining impeachment and clarifying its criteria. In her speech, Jordan discusses impeachment and states, “We know the nature of impeachment. We’ve been talking about it a while now. It is chiefly designed for the President and his high ministers to somehow be called into account. It is designed to “bridle” the Executive if he engages in excesses.
Andrew Johnson became the President of the United States after the assassination of President Lincoln. Johnson stepped into office after the Civil War, which was a fragile time for the country. As president after the war, it was Johnson’s duty to assist in unifying the southern slave states and the northern rebellious population, as one country. This was a difficult task to complete, especially after the assassination of a former president who really helped in the Civil War and with slavery. Johnson tried to quickly restore the states in the Union, however his actions lead to a presidential impeachment.
A filibuster is a tactic in the legislative process sometimes used in the US Senate by opponents of a bill to block its passage. In the Senate use their unique right to unlimited debate as a way to prevent or delay the Senate from ever voting on a bill. Senator’s work together can practically debate forever, tying up the legislative agenda until the proponents of a bill finally give up their battle. Filibusters are not allowed in the House of Representatives because House rules limit the time allowed for debate on bills. In 2013 because of Democratic frustration about filibusters of judicial and executive branch nominees the filibuster’s rules changed.
Back in 1788, the larger states were happier with their representation in the House. They had more population and where entitled to more reps. The representation in the Senate made the small states happier because each state was given the same amount. It ensured all states had equal say. The most important document, written in 1788, guarded against the possibility of an individual or group from getting too much power.
The political theorists David R. Mayhew, Gary W. Cox, and Matthew D. McCubbins argue on how the US Congress functions. They focus on the members of Congress and their actions. The basis of disagreement between the theorists lies in what Congress members find of importance. Mayhew argues that members of Congress, primarily concern themselves with reelection, as such, any action taken only benefits that. Cox and McCubbins’, however, formulate that Congress functions on the basis of majority party control and unity.
As it was definitely difficult to do so, the Constitution was ratified in
The reason why I think the constitution should be ratified because of the separation of powers. All the branches had more than one job to do. The legislative(congress) writes the laws, confirms presidential appointments. The Executive(president) proposes laws, administers the laws and appoints ambassadors and other officials. Last the Judicial(supreme court) Interpret the constitution and other laws and reviews lower-court decisions.
The functions of the Senate is to cautiously examine legislation that are proposed by the House of Commons, to suggest changes or adjustments. The Senate can reject a bill, and recommend changes and improvements to be made. They can introduce new bills however, most bills are introduced by the House of Commons. A bill cannot become a law in Canada without the Senates approval. This is also the only reason that the Senate is a useful institution in Canada today as it represents the interest of the provinces in federal legislative.

In some weighty instances, (as making all kinds of treaties, which are to be the laws of the land,) they have the whole legislative and executive powers. They, jointly, appoint all officers, civil and military; and they (the Senate) try all impeachments, either of their own members or of the officers appointed by themselves.” The Anti-Federalists make invalid arguments because the national government doesn’t hold too much power. The state governments still make decisions for that specific state.
My family owns a rock quarry. I still remember the day that I started working there. I was ten years old and it was summer time. Until this point, the girls in my family just sat in the scale answering the phone, weighing trucks, and making invoices. When my dad asked me to work one day, this was what I assumed I would be doing.
