When children are raised, they are influenced strongly by their parents. Often, their opinions are directly based on what they hear around them. In the story of Romeo and Juliet, Both teens are teens are raised in an environment ruled by hatred.The same hate would prove influential in hindering the love of Romeo and Juliet and cause internal conflicts to arise between love and rationality. The barrier that this creates between Romeo and Juliet and the hate of their families makes it difficult for these lovers to succeed. Due to the hostile nature of the feuding families and impulsive actions, Romeo and Juliet were never meant to be.

For example, despite a threat of death by Prince Escalus, Romeo engages in a duel that would eventually lead to the death of Tybalt. The furious Prince hears word of this and declares that when Romeo is found “that hour will be his last”(III.ii.204-205). This outburst from Romeo further shows that he does not take thought into his actions nor does he realize the effects of them. It can make one question whether he is truly in love with Juliet or if she is going to fade from his heart. When Romeo marries Juliet he does not realize the affects it can have on Juliet. For example, the Capulets arrange for Juliet to be married to county Paris unknowing of the her marriage to Romeo. Juliet is loyal, yet she is influenced to act against her parents and isolate herself from them because of Romeo. Neither Romeo or Juliet stops to realize that Juliet is losing people around her and being pushed out of her comfort zone. She is a sweet young girl, but due to her impulsive marriage to Romeo she must lie and directly disobey her parents. Furthermore, when Romeo is banished she yearns to be with him. She even states that she would rather “leap…off the battlements of any tower” than not be be with Romeo (IV.i.79). Her desperateness to be with Romeo causes her to comply with a risky plan. It relied on her drinking a potion to fake her death and later getting buried in her family tomb. Romeo would save her, and they would run off to Mantua together. However, this plan relies on communication, the thing that is lacked so greatly in this play. The letter to inform Romeo never reaches him. Instead, just as the rest of the world, Romeo believes Juliet is dead. Anger surged through him and he blames the universe and the stars (representative of fate) for disallowing him to be with Juliet. Romeo recognizes that fate is against him, but uses it to fuel his hate. Romeo plans on killing himself next
