Lee, Fear took over Stalin, that opposition would interfere success for his plan, he “aimed to wipe out the entire generation of Bolsheviks who had assisted Lenin between 1917 and 1924.” (Stalin’s Purges). Stalin knew that this would secure his position, because it would leave him as the inheritor when Lenin died.
