During the Cold War was based on two different types of beliefs called Communism and Capitalism and both the U.S. with its own allies and the U.S.S.R. Its Communist allies are equally to blame for starting the war. When the Iron curtain was around the East European government adopted a communist system and fell under the control of the U.S.S.R. The Iron Curtain, political, military, and mysterious barrier raised by the Soviet Union after World War II to seal off itself and its dependant Eastern and Western European allies from open contact with the West and other non-Communist countries. Summarize the key events in the Cold War abroad under President Truman. Truman worked so hard to clean up the postwar disorder and establish a new international order. He helped to do many things during the postwar, like creating the world bank and the international monetary fund, and he also do something that I felt was very extravagant, which was him funding and helping rebuild Japan under General MacArthur. The prosecution of the Nazi war criminals took place at the Nuremberg trials and this is around the same time Truman introduced and summarized the Marshall plan.
The Cold War wasn’t really much a war with large scale fighting between the two sides, the United Sates and the Soviet Union. The war started in 1947 and ended around 1991. The United States saw that The Soviet Union was a trying to spread communism and this was a threat to their effort on trying to let the Eastern Europe countries capitalist countries. The United States formed NATO with other countries to create a protective alliance system. This caused a worry to the Soviet Union, a threat to their security.

He is known for launching the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe, for leading the Cold War against Soviet and Chinese communism through the Truman Doctrine and NATO, and intervening in the Korean War. In domestic affairs, he was a moderate Democrat whose liberal proposals were a continuation of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, but the Conservative-dominated Congress blocked most of them. He holds the record for vetoes at 180, and saw 12 overridden by Congress; Gerald Ford later tied that record.[3]

During the crisis of the Cold War, President Truman and President Eisenhower came up with a policy called containment, while President Kennedy had followed a policy called flexible response. A lot of the Cold War could be considered brinkmanship.
The Cold War did occur after WWII between the United States and The Soviet Union at the time of President Ronald Reagan administration. The Soviet union and its government had the ideology of spreading communism around the world. The United States was against communism and this why the country went to war with Vietnam. "Containment" was the ultimate goal by the U.S. to preventing communism from happen worldwide. My perception of the Cold War and the War on Terror is due to the lack of the United States government to understanding other countries language, culture and way of life.
In the 1947 the Cold War started with it brought the policies. During the Cold War we had many policies. Most were foreign policies as well as many American policies. With the breakup of the Soviet Union into separate nations, and the re-emergence of the nation of Russia, the world of pro-U.S. and pro-Soviet alliances broke down.(Bodden 12) Different challenges presented themselves, such as climate change and the threat of nuclear terrorism. Thus bringing us to the policies that were made.
Many Americans post-world war II were afraid of the spread of communism because of their belief in the domino theory, if one country falls then the rest will too. Under external and internal pressures such as the failure of the Potsdam conference Harry Truman adopted a foreign policy during the early years of the cold war ( the late 40’s) called containment. The objective was to stop the spread of communism around the world by creating military alliances such as NATO ,and providing aid to unstable/weak countries through the Marshall Plan. Unfortunately, like many other U.S foreign policies it was effective at times, but also dreadfully ineffective. In order to combat the continuous spread of communism, Truman passed the Truman doctrine, which allowed for foreign intervention in countries affected by Communism.
The war started because the U.S wanted to contain the spread of communism.” Most American officials agreed that the best defense against the Soviet threat was a strategy called “containment.” The U.S allowed communism to exist but was not going to let it spread to any other country. The reason why it was called the cold war was because the U.S and the Soviet Union never directly fought, there were other wars that the U.S fought in like the Vietnam war. There was mainly only two countries’ that where involved in the cold war Russia and the U.S. Within the U.S there was something going on that was called the “Red Scare”.
Is the most powerful man in the world defined by the amount of money he possesses, or the amount of authority he holds? In the case of the United States president, does he have the fortune or command to make decisions that not only impact our nation, but the whole world? Our government has a system of checks and balances so all of the power is evenly distributed among three branches. The executive branch is the President, the Legislative branch is comprised of the Senate and the House of Representatives, and Judicial branch is the Supreme Court. Although the president is the head of the most lucrative nation in the world, this does not mean he is then always and automatically the most powerful person on the planet.
