She was sentenced to 6 years prison with a non-parole period of 4 years. In 2006, the Coalition, under the hard line right wing John Howard, passed the Electoral and Referendum Amendment (Electoral Integrity and Other Measures) Act that made it impossible for any prisoner to vote during their period of incarceration. Prior to this, prisoners voting rights were protected under the the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 (amended 1983). The Electoral act of 1918 made it possible for any prisoner serving under
The Case Against Marijuana Gonzales v. Raich In Gonzales v. Raich the legal issue facing the court is whether Congress has the power, through Article I Section 8 of the Constitution, to “prohibit the local cultivation and use of marijuana in compliance with California law.” The 1996 Proposition 215, now codified as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, was created to ensure ill residents of California had access to medicinal marijuana. The 1996 Act is relevant to this 2005 case because it is important to the eventual dispute before the court.
Case Citation: Linda Williamson v. The City of Houston, 148 F. 3d 462 (5th Cir. 1998). Facts: Houston Police Officer Linda Williamson was working in the Organized Crime Squad and was sometimes assigned to partner with fellow Officer Doug McLeod. Williamson alleged that over an eighteen month period, McLeod harassed her every day creating a hostile work environment. More specifically, Williamson stated that McLeod conducted obvious and demeaning inspections of her appearance. He made comments to her on how her body looked in different clothes and remarked specifically on the appearance of her buttocks and the size of her breasts.
The Sheila Dixon saga Sheila Dixon became mayor of Baltimore city in 2007 following Martin O’Malley gubernatorial win. She was elected to city council in 1987 and Baltimore City Council president in 1999. She was among other city officials were finally indicted on corruption charges following an investigation led by state and federal agents. The following excerpt summarizes the scandal’s details and the circumstances surrounding the charges levied against Dixon as published by The Economist (2009).
On April 6, 2016, Tamar Christopher Sweat appeared before the Honorable Judge Joel P. Crowe of the Portsmouth Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for charges of underage possession of a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm and possession of stolen property. Tamar was accompanied by his legal guardian and grandmother, Gail Sweat. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kara Cooper prosecuted the case, and Tamar was represented by Deputy Public Defender Bernadine Gerlach. A plea agreement between the prosecution and defense was submitted, and the court accepted the agreement. A finding was taken under advisement for a period of two years, and Tamar was placed on supervised probation.
The United States v. Lopez case was about Alfonzo Lopez, a 12th grade student from San Antonio, who came to school carrying a hidden weapon. Under Texas law he was charged with possession of a firearm. Later on he was dismissed of this violation and was later charged with “federal criminal statute”. He was found violating “ The Gun-Free School Act”, which was created in 1990. His sentence was 6 months in prison and two years of being supervised while being released.
II. The Cases of Jamie Melendez and Christopher Mirasolo A) Course of Events In 2009, a man named Jaime Melendez (nineteen at that time) raped a fourteen year old high school student, who is mentioned as H.T. in court documents, several times in the victim’s house in Massachusetts. The victim has conceived a child in one of these horrifying incidents and gave birth to a baby girl in 2010. After entering a guilty plea in 2011 and sentenced to sixteen years probation, Thomas Mcguire (Norfolk Superior Court Judge) ruled Melendez to go to the family court, which ordered Melendez to pay the mother an estimated 110 dolars for child support on a weekly basis.
Karla Faye Tucker killed two people in 1983. Tucker confessed to the crime, and was executed in 1998. The interesting thing about Tucker’s case, however, is that she claimed to have turned her life around while in prison. She was no longer using drugs, had found religion, and had even gotten married. But none of this was enough to change her sentencing from execution to life in prison.
But, my concern is that my daughter (Jaclyn Renee Romeo) was given a two year order of protection by Judge Jessica Colon-Sayre for a Facebook post on a private page WITH no names in/on the post. When my daughter (Jaclyn) was in court with the adopted mother several months ago, and the previous Judge stated that the page could stay up as long as it was in a private status. I know you cannot make a comment regarding another Judge ruling, however I am asking for someone to, look into the matter on a more check and balance bases.

What happened: On March 10, 2012, Jessica Silva killed James Polkinghorne in a fight at her home in Sydney. This was after she had suffered a lot from Polkinghorne's injuries for many years. Fights at Home: Silva went through a lot of Polkinghorne's mean actions for many years. She asked for help many times before the fight which shows how tough it is for victims of fights at home.
On June 12, 1994, at night a dog walker discovered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman’s brutally murdered bodies. Nicole Brown Simpson was OJ Simpson’s ex wife and mother to two children Sydney and Justin. Ronald Goldman was Nicole’s friend. Both of these two were stabbed repeatedly and had their throats cut. Once police got to the scene and immediate suspicion came on Oj Simpson.
