Background
The movie took place in Kabul, Afghanistan where Hassan and Amir the two main characters lives. They are two best friends who are inseparable and love and respect one another. The movie starts as a flash back of Amir as s an adult living in California; Amir remains haunted by a childhood incident in which he betrayed Hassan's trust. When he learns that the Taliban has murdered Hassan and wife, Amir returns to his homeland to learn the fate of the couple's son.

Amir is the main character of the novel the Kite Runner. He is young boy living in Kabul, Afghanistan with his sheltering father. He is shy, innocent, and at some times is the movie, cowardly when he is faced with unfamiliar situation. His best …show more content…

He believes in doing what is right and he try to preach that to his son. Sometimes he is willing to risk his live for what he believes. He is a very confident man and doesn’t let other people opinions affect him or bring him down. He has his own religious believes and harsh on Amir his son even though with no doubts he loves him. The tournament is a very important thing to the kids of the village. It has a competitive side to it but also to have fun and enjoy it. The kite is the only connection that Amir has with his dad. And he feels by wining he will get his father approval and he will be the son that he always wanted. So in this case the kite wining the tournament symbolizes wining his dad heart. Also it symbolizes power and kids think of it as weapon or whom kite is better to take the other one down. Also it symbolizes Amir and Hassan friendship, there was a scene in the movie where Assaef was bullying them and he was about to lose the kite and he stand up there and protected Amir and the kite.
