In Khaled Hosseini's novel, The Kite Runner, The protagonist, Amir, undergoes a drastic transformation. At the beginning of the novel, Amir is a Jealous coward, but by the end of the novel, Amir becomes a man who will stand up to his enemies instead of run away and somebody who will try to right his wrongs. Amir's transformation holds many valuable lessons. Some of these lessons are; to be courageous instead of running, Jealousy will only ruin your life, and have something worth living for. All three of these lessons are very important and I hope that I can use these lessons to develop myself as a person as I leave McQuaid. The first lesson that I took from The Kite Runner is to be courageous. Amir was not courageous when he saw Hassan being raped. This fact haunted Amir for the rest of his life. Amir felt responsible for what happened, he felt that he should have stopped Assef from doing what he did to Hassan. I take away that it is better to be courageous and act instead of being timid and waiting. I think that this approach will lead to less regret in my life. Regret is one of the worst feelings in life, the would-haves, should-haves, and could-haves, are the things that drive people crazy. They drove Amir crazy and I hope that I can avoid this feeling of despair in my life. …show more content…

In the novel, Jealousy leads Amir to frame Hassan of stealing from Baba. Amir's jealousy of Hassan leads him to commit an another atrocious deed against his best friend. This is a level of jealousy that I hope to never achieve. I realize that jealousy is a part of human nature and is unavoidable in some ways, but I hope that I can contain my jealousy. When jealousy is not contained the results can be absolutely catastrophic. The results that stemmed from Amir's jealousy ruined lives and this is something that I would not be able to live with if I caused something
