The author wrote this passage showing how a character can go through change and the use of figurative languages that paints a clear image to form the main idea for the readers. While the reader reads the short story, it introduces many different types of figurative languages. Within these many types of figurative languages, these were used to help the reader infer to conclude an excellent central idea, the exaggeration of words using hyperbole, also displaying an amount of imagery, and lastly many events that bring the reader a sense of symbolism of how the character develops throughout the story. The author conveys these kinds of hyperbole to show the reader how it is making the character express their feeling. One way the author made it clear is, "... They firmed their mouths and spoke from their chest..." (Pg1, line10) Here as the author lets you know exaggerating how difficult it was for her parents to decide to move her to Cincinnati. Another way the author showed the readers, hyperbole at the end. The author writing, "This is often the way when they truly want a thing, to pretend that they don't." (Pg4, line5-6) Through this the author is showing another exaggeration showing the reader how immature they were not to show each other their feelings, letting each other know how they feel. Throughout the passage, it was used in many ways. One way it was handled through the story, was how the author gives the reader, imagine through imagery was with bright colors, and a neat display of size for the reader to create. In the passage, the author writes," her hair was red and thick. And in it, she had placed a huge orange bow nearly the size of a small hat."(Pg2, line 18-20) By using imagery, the author creates a great scene for the reader to paint.
