Introduction The Korean Augmentation to the Unites States Army (KATUSA) started in July 1950. While the war with North Korea and South still continued on, the US Army and South Korean military were decided to inner mix there soldiers to better aid the American Soldiers. The integration was completely successful by filling empty slots in the US Army with Korean Soldiers. The KATUSA Soldiers bridged the gap in identification of North Korean soldiers, as well as helped the Americans identify South Korean soldiers and decipher who were civilians within the mix. Both Nations need the support and increase in numbers of fighters in combat against North Korea, since at the time China joined in the fight in support of North Korea.

Integration
. The integration of South Korean soldiers into the ranks of American military formations was a great benefit to the cohesion and understanding to how each force operated. 17 JULY 1950 General Macarthur and President Syng Man Rhee, agreed on increasing the cohesion and integration of troops together and from then the South Korean Soldiers were billeted together with the American soldiers. Serving in the military is mandatory for most of the males in South Korea. If not selected through random code selection for Republic of Korean Army the ones who make selection to be a part of the KATUSA program are put through a process that requires one to apply, take and pass the standard English test, then selected via random basis from positions available for a KATUSA Soldier in the US Army. After the passing of the selection, the Korean must go through six weeks of Basic combat training, then to the KATUSA training academy for their specific training to hold a position as a soldier in the KATUSA program for the United States
