In the short story, “ The Lady, or the Tiger “ by Frank R. Stockton there lived a semi-barbaric princess who had to choose if her lover will get eaten alive or live a happily ever after by choosing a door. In one of those two doors there is a tiger that will kill him if she chooses that door. The other door has the lady who will marry him if she chooses her. The princess knew which door the lady was in and which door the tiger was in. The princess even knew who the lady behind the door was. The story does not say what door she chose but with the evidence they gave us it is reasonable that she chose the tiger. The princess is just like her father. The ¨rapturous delight¨(3) the young man had as he saw the door opening to the lady made her ¨soul burn in agony¨(3). The princess was suffering mentally seeing the man she loves interested in another woman. The princess would rather have her love wait for her in heaven. She was filled with jealousy and therefore would be a reason why she would choose the tiger. The princess choose the lady because the couple ¨walked upon their path of flowers¨(3) meanwhile they were ¨followed by tremendous shouts of the hilarious multitude¨(3). Although that evidence suggests the princess choose the lady´s door, that evidence is not strong enough. The princess would never choose the lady because she made her jealous by making the young men she loved fall in love with her. This caused the princess to get enraged. The princess is semi-barbaric which means brutal tortures makes her happy. Therefore it remains that the door the prince's choose was the tiger. It is evident that she chose the tiger and not the lady. Why would the princess ever let the people who made her suffer live a magnificent life ? The princess felt jealousy and anger when the man was delighted to see the lady. The princess being also like her father contributes that she would choose the deadliest path for the young men.
