Title: The Last Pitch

Statement of intent: I am going to write a creative piece of writing to try and develop a memory into a new sense of environment and create a new feeling for this particular memory. I will use language features to help and re-create this memory.

The smell of fresh cut grass reminded me of the time I was pitching in the prem one mixed softball finial. I could feel my mind drifting away into the blurred memory and I could feel the intensity of the burning sun on my arms that was shooting down on that day.

The little droplets of sweat on my blistering sun burnt forehead dripping down the side of my face helped my chapped lips to get a little bit of moisture on them, thanks to dad for providing me with a sunhat that did not stop the scorching sun from burning my eyes. With the sun reaching a high of 35 degrees it was the hottest day Invercargill had seen all summer. Eyes blinded by the intense glare from the golden clay that laid at rest beneath nine pairs of heavy metal softball cleats, eight players stood waiting like over sized monkeys with dangling arms hungry for the last pitch to be thrown.
