As you are thrown into the air your heart starts to race and the smile on your face grows, you know it's what you want to be doing. Growing up always wanting to be a cheerleader, this year I decided to try out. convincing my childhood best friend Maggie to also try out and make the team together. In all honesty it felt like it came naturally to both of us, learning the tryout material was quite simple.

Although I've only been in cheer for a few months, I love it so far. On the first day of practice they had started me as a flier. Many of the girls on the team said it was good how I was fearless doing stunts. It may seem crazy though because the tallest girl on the team is a flier. It's fun being able to do stunts and learn cheers with the others. It's a very nice welcoming atmosphere created by all the girls in cheer. I like it better than most sports because I don't feel judged doing anything. Being in cheer also gives you the advantage of having skills other people don't. I can now do a front walkover and can't wait to see what else I learn. You can also build muscle and get fit from doing cheer. On weekends we have fundraisers and during the week we have practice. You have to shape your schedule around cheer, especially in the summer. During football season you constantly are practicing, cheering at games, and doing things for football. When you miss practice, are going to be late, or leave early you have to fill out a permission slip and sign an oath. It can also be dangerous, especially for me as a flier. Many times during practice and stunts I'm dropped or fall which sometimes can lead to broken bones, concussions, and other injuries. Girls can also try new tumbles which lead to injury. After every practice I'm always tired because we are constantly doing something with no break unless you're standing in line waiting your
