Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator Cleopatra is one of the most famous female rulers in history. She was the last ruler of the Macedonian dynasty. At the time it was not routine for women to be rulers, but she commanded their respect despite the circumstances and she received it. Cleopatra achieved many things from her early life, to her ascension to the throne, through the affairs with Caesar and Marc Antony, following her defeat and death.
Cleopatra’s life began around sixty-nine B.C. When Alexander the Great died, he a pointed his general, Ptolemy, to take the throne as King Ptolemy I Soter, then started the Dynasty which Cleopatra came out of. Cleopatra’s father was Ptolemy XIII. Cleopatra’s mother was believed to be Cleopatra V Tryphaena, the king’s wife (and possibly his half-sister). Soon after the death of Ptolemy XII , the throne was inherited by Cleopatra and her younger brother Ptolemy XIII.
Because both Cleopatra and her brother inherited the throne together, it was expected of them to join together in marriage. Unfortunately there were many complications between the two. It was these very complications that enabled Cleopatra to travel to syria and create her very own army to fight for the throne. It was this battle that proved that she was to be respected and taken seriously was ruler.

He was after Pompey when they sought out refuge in Egypt. Then Cleopatra and Caesar fell in love. Because of Caesar’s army, Cleopatra finally had enough military power to overthrow her brother, Ptolemy XIII. Which was very fortunate for Caesar seeing that he was in need of resources Cleopatra possessed. Soon later they conceived a boy named Caesarion, but unfortunately Caesar had some doubts of whether or not he was his true biological son. Following that debacle Cleopatra followed Caesar back to Rome. Later they went back to Egypt and Caesar’s assassination
