On Saturday, November 18, 2017, I saw the play The Library. The play is loosely based on the events of the Columbine school shooting of 1999 and other mass shootings that have happened on American soil. The Library opens with the main character in critical condition after having been shot by the typical lone-wolf gunman, as usually portrayed in American media. The main character, Caitlin Gabriel, albeit herself having been severely wounded by the gunman, is subject to much psychological torment throughout the play; she is (falsely) accused of pointing the gunman in the direction of her fellow students and harassed by the media and people in her town because of it.
