Much More than Just Mythology? Readers… Some are good, others great but there are some who are just plain awful. Not in the sense of actually reading but understanding the real content of the book and what it’s actually trying to communicate. Most see children books and judge, thinking they are just mere stupidities with nonsense themes that have no foundation or “true” content. However, as everything in life, exceptions prevail. A superior reader sees the content in any type of book, being from children to adult, seeing everything as a fountain of knowledge. For example, a children’s book that may be viewed as only mythological with no true value or content is from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians saga The Lightning Thief written by Rick Riordan. It is the first of five books and the rest can be viewed the same way just because they have an appeal for a younger audience. In this sense, Percy Jackson’s The Lightning Thief actually delves into themes that occur to most people in life: deception, the need for a new beginning, and a search for ones true identity. Deception is present in ones every day. People that seem or act a certain way may be plotting an action towards you in a positive or negative manner. One can never expect anything in life from anyone or anything in a state of a hundred percent, just because you don’t know what’s going on in they’re minds. What may be portrayed as truthful and reliant from the outside may turn out to actually be a substandard
