Based on China's characterization, Boyle's love story about China is chock-full of unanswered and sad moments, describing all the love, family members, and friends. She is portrayed as a sex addict since she had been having sex with Jeremy since they were in junior school until she got pregnant, although they were careful all through unconditional love. One can find several uses for love in life. In the short story, China is a beautiful, charismatic girl with a tragic end to her life, shown as a victim due to unexpected and unattended love and sex life by her parents. Unconditional motherly love is ultimately captured in the short story by China's mother, an elderly lady. The mother and the hypostases created around China have the collection and expression of the feelings and the devoted love that the parents have for their children.
