Introduction Human beings need to communicate almost everyday. Whether it is at work, within a group of friends, or even in ones home. When people are in a familiar place, they seem to be at ease; both in terms of conveying thoughts and ideas, and in the way they speak. However, when people are in surroundings that they are not accustomed to, their confidence levels tend to drop. The regular human being ranks the apprehension of public speaking higher than that of death. The major cause or reason for the fear of public speaking is that individuals are afraid of looking imprudent in front of other people. They are petrified that their cognizance will go blank or that their absence of speaking skills will lower the outlook others have of them. This fear of speaking in public is also called Glossophobia, which is derived from the Latin word for tongue called glossa. According to Mr. Eric Barker of the Times Magazine, “40% of people fear public speaking”. After all, very few people are natural-born speakers. This might lead to them getting more nervous and increasing their fear of a chance of making a mistake. One-way to overcome such a fear is to envisage people as not all that important. This trick helps a person keep a clam attitude while presenting and shows the audience that the speaker is confident and at ease. Keeping a positive approach is also a method of overcoming the fear of public speaking. One could imagine that the crowd or audience they are speaking in front are caring, friendly people who want to hear what the speaker has to say. This positive approach would relax the speaker, put them in a good frame of mind and the audience would read the progressive body language and respond
