During harry S. Truman's presidency he was faced with one of the most world altering decisions in the war against japan. The use of atomic weapons would set an example of the united states of america’s military strength,power and knowledge of a very destructive technology. It was necessary for president Truman to drop the atomic bomb on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for these reasons. American soilders were tired from the four years of fighting and a surrender from Japan was not in sight.. In (Doc L) it says the bomb saved more lives than killed people in the end, President Truman needed to retaliate for their attack on Pearl Harbor and the bomb would just end the war more quicker.
On August 8, 1945, the first atomic bomb was dropped over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This was the world’s first deployed atomic bomb, and it had devastating effects on the citizens of Japan. Immediately 80,000 individuals were killed, and thousands later died from radiation exposure. The United States is only nation to have ever used atomic ordnance in warfare (“Atomic Bomb Dropped”). This event in history supports that the United States’ decision to drop such calamitous weapons on Japan are due to their superior view of themselves.

World War II introduced the most dangerous weapon in the world, the atomic bomb. When the US used it on Japan we went to far and caused unnecessary damage to the people. In 1939, the scientific community, specifically German physicists had learned the secrets of splitting a uranium atom (The Manhattan Project” 2015). America realized that Adolf Hitler’s Germany obtained a massive amount of scientific talent. With their access had necessary raw materials and knowledge of the splitting of the uranium atom, they had the industrial capacity to produce an atomic bomb(“Manhattan Project”2014). The atomic bomb would eventually become the turning point of weaponry during World War II. On October 11, 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein about the splitting of the uranium atom which could be beneficial in developing weapons for America during World War II.
Thesis statement: Though many speculate that the act of dropping the atomic bomb on Japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) while not doing so on Europe (Germany and Italy) was racially motivated, racism played little to no role in these bombings. The United States of America and her allies were willing to end World War II at any cost, had the atomic bombs been available they would have been deployed in Europe. In the 1940’s there is no doubt that the United States of America was engulfed by mass anti-Japanese hysteria which inevitably bled over into America’s foreign policy. During this period Japanese people living in both Japan and the United States of America were seen as less that human.
The atomic bomb was a terrible thing. It killed 150,000 in Hiroshima and 75,000 in Nagasaki, plus many survivors became horribly disfigured from the intensive heat, and death from radiation is uncertain it may not kill the victims for days, weeks, months, or even years. (Although the bomb did save the USA from sending foot soldier to Japan, the Japanese were ready to surrender on terms that they can keep their empire and we had no need to use it). Japan was the first to feel the destructive power of the atomic bomb. Killing a quarter of a million people and costing two billion dollars of war replenish.
As all the world has known, the biggest atomic bomb in warfare history by the end of World War 2 is the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima that hit on August 9th, 1945 by the direct order of our 33rd president of The United States Of America; Harry S. Truman. He thought this bomb would bring a close ending of the war (World War 2) and it definitely did but it was too much to handle afterwards when it hit. There was no choice for Truman because there was no other way to bring the war into a close. It was the last call, but they didn’t realize that after they released the bomb, it was hard to decide whether it was a mistake or the right decision. The bomb was made to protect America and American lives. The atomic bomb killed almost 200,000 Japs. Many of which were military personal or
