Do you ever wonder if giving up would help the situation you are in? Do you ever wonder if you persevere it would help you succeed? Most people do. Well in the story the Marble champ, by Gary Soto, the theme is to never give up. At the start of “The Marble champ” we see how good Lupe is at Never Giving up. “I’ll never be good at sports” Lupe says. But if you keep reading into the story Lupe shows how she still tries and keeps going even when things get tough. Now my second reason Why I believe the theme of the story is to never give up is, “She begged her body to move faster… She knows she's not fast and not good at sports but she figured out if you keep persevering it pays off, and you will say how later in the story how hard work pays off. My last reason in the beginning of the story how it shows that Lupe doesn't give up is. “I wish I could be good at playing marbles… That is showing that she is trying to find something else that she is good at, and when she finds something she works hard to be the best at it. …show more content…

“Get low aim with one eye”... Since she doesn't know much about marbles she is asking for help and isn't giving up no matter what. My second reason why I believe Lupe never gives up is “She practiced three hours straight”... That would be super hard for me!!, She is clearly showing how she isn't giving up and is trying to get better.
