For some military veterans, military service was not by choice. For Colonel (Retired) William C. Allison that was the case. Colonel Bill Allison knew he was going to be drafted, therefore he made the decision to attend Auburn University’s ROTC program and graduate as a commissioned 2LT of Armor in the Regular Army in 1961. Following graduation Col Bill married the love of his life, Martha John Allison, whom he would say, “ was the ideal Army wife, always supportive, encouraging, and never complaining when unexpected reassignment orders came. His only complaint was that she always thought that she out ranked him” (W. Allison, personal communication, April 25 2018).
My father had made some bad business deals and lost all of the family's money. When I was two years old, my dad went to debtor's prison. A few years later my dad went to the West Indies and never returned. Becoming a soldier, since my family didn't have any money, I saw the military as a great way to get a free education and to have a career. I entered the West Point Military Academy at the age of 18 and graduated in 1829 near the top of the class.
(including uniform allowance for the 1st year) Each year the salary is expected to increase, in the 2nd year the compensation would be about $65,662.39. The higher the rank the higher the pay the individual can anticipate. For a Trooper to receive a promotion he or she must either do one of the following: A) Written Promotional OR B) Oral Promotion. The written promotion is an exam that is off a study list that will be distributed 6 weeks prior to the exam.
The tenacity and passion of Marines is one of their greatest attributes, however without regulations to guide their behavior, Marines have a tendency to be extreme. Striking the rank insignia was a way of congratulating a newly promoted Marine. This tradition, however, began leaving Marines injured and unable to carry out their duties. Assault was not a tradition the Marine Corps was willing to uphold.
Your choices are to serve your country and win your independence or cower, lose, and have no freedom with more political power. Now I could see how people would want to leave the army. The living conditions are terrible: little food, poorly clothed, and illness & death. I can say for certain that I have that wish to leave the army, but my willpower is strong. Little food only lasts through the winter.
Although my major is undecided, whatever I pursue as a major will help me in making a difference. Acceptance into a service academy will help me to achieve my long-range goals by not only continuing my family 's service to our country but also by allowing me to be educated through service. I will be going to school and will also be going through the training needed to be part of the armed forces. My goal is to say I served in the United States, that I have put in the time and effort to keep our country safe, to honor those who fought before, to allow our freedoms to continue and to maybe, make the world a better place.
I do not know of a life without the military influencing it, as it has played a strong role in my family. This upcoming year that I am graduating, my father will be retiring from the Marines. His retirement has been a long time coming, and there is uncertainty
The military is seen throughout history serving and protecting a greater cause than their own. Historically, the United States would have never existed without a military. It was the organized revolutionary army that earned us freedom from Great Britain. The purpose of the military is to protect a nation’s citizens and territory from threats. The military gave me a different perspective to see the greater good is more important than myself.
This forms the second level of the pyramid, to issue orders too. Next from there the order from highest to lowest rank forming and ever-expanding pyramid until it reached the lowest rank and there by forming the lowest and biggest level. This allows for orders to be quickly and effectively issued to the Marines. It also allows for accountability to be easily to conducted so that the commander will know if any of his Marines are missing, sick, or injured. This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any time a commander can find out the condition of the Marines in their
Enlisted members are the working party, Warrant officers outrank all enlisted, while the head of all are the commissioned officers who rule over all. Each rank has a role to play within the military all the way from E1 to O9. To start let’s learn a little; within the U.S. Navy they use the term “Rate” not rank. Also there is “Rank” and there is “Pay Grade”; now as they sound the same they are different a pay grade is a classification
As I am getting ready to begin my college years, my experience in America is getting richer every day. I have realized how much opportunities I have being an American citizen and living in this part of the world compared to the life i lived in Togo and I intend to make the most of it. I’m working toward my goals and one of them is to join the military. I always have the desire of serving people and I believe serving in the Military is one way to show my gratitude to my new country and its
Joining the army is a very frightening decision since the United States has many enemies and is currently at war against terror. There 's a huge possibility I would get sent to war and witness horrible acts of violence. Many army recruiters tend to skip the topic of there’s no turning back as soon as you sign the dotted line. The army tends to sugar coat these ideals and principles while they tried to convince me to join as soon as my final year of high school would be
While the military maybe a riskier job there are great benefits for it.
I want to be a marine because I want to serve my country and I want to earn the title of United States Marine. I would like to help people in other countries. I would also like to join because there is a lot of benefits if you join like you could get free college. And you would get paid a certain amount each month once you retire. You also get free health care and other things.
Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today. Becoming a member of the United States Army recruiting team means having a physical and mental toughness in order to perform efficiently.
