The Mayan tribe can be represented as a potato. For instance, the archaic potato has been around for hundreds of years and has invented numerous dishes. One can name off several potato inventions including mashed potatoes and tater tots. Similarly, the Mayans were around for thousands of years and discovered new inventions. Both the Mayans and the potato are the most advanced of their kind. Moreover, superior is a word that describes what the Mayans created while their tribe excelled. The Mayan culture discovered a written language, rubber, and math concepts. The most important discovery is the creation of a written language. For example, the Mayan language included eight hundred glyphs, while each of these glyphs symbolized a word or syllable (“Mayan Scientific Achievements”). As claimed by Adihikari, the Mayan language was utilized for history, daily events, information about gods, and achievements. Further, the information was written on pillars, walls, and stone slabs for the public to see (Adihikari). The use of a written language represents how unified the Mayan culture was. All of the citizens could readily communicate causing less tensions and anger. Also, since notable information was written on public infrastructure, each Mayan citizen could understand events and knowledge of the community. The unification of the Mayans is what made their civilization last for multiple centuries. Another major discovery of the Mayans was rubber. Rubber was first used to make glue, rubber balls, and figurines (“Mayan Scientific Achievements”). The use of rubber is a significant because rubber is still used in the modern world. The Mayans also encountered long route trade with other parts of the world. With such extraordinary discoveries and vastness of land, the Mayans spanned from 2000 BC to 1521 (Hunn & Hunn). For Native American civilizations, it was hard to keep a significant amount of land before another tribe captured it.
