In this essay I will be exploring the ways in which concepts of how TV genres has been evolving according to how society has been changing. I will mention the ways in which British television genres and shows have developed to shape its meaning with time due to society’s values, cultural shifts, different trends, fashion development, and life styles changes. This means that genre is never neutral or universal, it is also ideological. The element of surprise and peoples real reactions caught the audience’s attentions that later on brought about new ideas. The aspect of there being a hidden camera also brought curiosity amongst the audience as they had high expectations of something hilarious to happen .
