I am going to analyse Zombieland (Ruben Fleischer, 2009) and determine this film as a postmodernism film and its genre by using the semantic/syntactic approach proposed by Rick Altman (1984, pp.26-39). Zombieland is a film that directed by Ruben Fleischer in 2009. Zombieland is starring by Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Emma Stone as Wichita/Krista and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock. Postmodernism film is a film that intertextuality, pastiche and parody, genre bending and anti-structuralism. In this film analysis, I am going to discuss about genre analysis and postmodernist analysis.
Film genres classify the types of the films. There are various types, categories, classifications or groups of films that have the similar or familiar patterns, syntax or techniques. Genre is a form of categorizing films that we watched, grouping the films and the types. Genre have the characteristics features that are known and recognised by the audiences. Film genres had changed over the time, as filmmakers invent new formula based on the old formula that can shared the general knowledge about the types of films to attract audience’s attention. On his way home he meet a tough guy, Tallahassee, want to find his Twinkie and a pair of sisters, Wichita and Little Rock, who want to go to the Pacific Park. They went on their journey together.
