People, are always live comfortable with the culture that they are in since small. It is hard for them to escape from their original culture, even when they want to. They may have a natural tendency to revert to their cultural roots even they try to adopt cultural flexibility by doing things in line with different culture. In this situation, mindfulness has played a vital role in our life in ensuring people to survive even in the situation where there are different cultures. Those who are mindfulness tend to be more open minded and free from old minded. They can accept new things or trends compare to those who are not mindful. Besides, they will always get themselves to be updated through reading books and newspaper, surfing internet or meeting with people who are from different culture. The knowledge they gained will enable them to see and analyze the issue from different perspectives. For example, my grandparents who are mindfulness will not criticize or scold us when we are in black during Chinese New Year. Individualist is best to describe Sam’s personality who are more preferred “I” as he recommended to do the assignment separately whereas the rest of the members are more towards collectivist as they preferred to do the assignment in group. Generally, individualist is more independent and I can see this from Sam because he always do all the tasks by himself without asking others’ opinion. On the other hand, collectivist is more interdependent and this can be seen from the rest of the members who always depends on each other when doing assignment. They believe that the thing can be done better and faster if there are more people. In conclusion,I realize that both of the individualist and collectivist actually have the pros and cons. Both parties have to respect and adapt to each other at the time working together. At last,the issue had been solved when Sam agreed to join our discussion for brainstorming and sharing ideas and we also agreed to do the job separately after the meeting. This is a win-win situation where both parties who are from different culture willing to adapt to other’s culture at that particular moment
