What do you think the cause and effect is that created suspense in both “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Monkeys Paw”? Therefore, what this essay is about is the cause and effects that create suspense in “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Monkeys Paw”. This is what I’m hoping to accomplish writing this essay. The cause and effect relationship that created suspense in Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" and W.W. Jacobs "The Monkeys Paw" is the fact that in the tell tale heart the guy was crazy so the cause was he was crazy the effect was he killed the old man.
Well, the cause and effect relationship between Edgar Allan Poes “The Tell-Tale Heart” and W.W. Jacobs “The Monkeys Paw” that creates suspense is there is evil in both stories. In Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart,” the man is going crazy over the old man’s pale, milky, blue eye. So, the man goes crazy over this eye and ends up killing the old man. The cause in the story that creates suspense is after the man killed the old man he cut him up in pieces. Evidence from the story itself, “First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and the arms and the legs.”. The meaning of the quotations is to show that that line in the story does cause suspense. The effect of this cause is people get scared reading this. The story is about a young man who goes crazy and ends up killing an old man. Then he confesses to the police about murdering the old man. After the man kills the old man, he can still hear the heart beat of the old man. This quotation, “Villains!" I shrieked, "Dissemble no more! I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous heart!" supports my cause. The meaning of the quotation is to support my cause identification.
