The summer before the start of my freshman year in high school I had a major incident that I had to overcome. Before this event, baseball was my favorite sport and I have been playing it since I was 5 years old. I had torn my rotator cuff about 6 years ago which resulted in me sitting out for about a year. I was in middle school, but decided not to tryout for the school team, instead I played in a less competitive junior league. I played it for two years and thought my baseball career was over until I joined the Mountain Pointe Warriors summer team. Some of the negative experiences in your life will teach you positive lessons that can be character building.
After my two years of playing juniors I wanted to quit. I wasn’t playing at a high level and I didn’t have the love and passion as I once did. My parents were telling me to play and I declined. The summer before I start my high school career my parents decided to sign me up for the Mountain Pointe summer team. I was angry and furious that they signed me up without telling me, but I was stuck in it now. I joined during the middle of the season and started to fit in with the team and meet the players. This was a life-changing event that I will remember until the day I die. It was a negative event, but something that I overcame and gave me a different view of life for the first few months. I feel as if this event made me stronger and built my character. I think back and look and when my mom made me sign up for baseball, would this event ever have happened. The positives are that I made a lot of friends from baseball and had great experiences from the season.
