On November 14, 1945, the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials began in Germany. They were to be the definitive judgement of the crimes against humanity by the Nazis. In the midst of the trial, it was determined that the SS, along with its associated organizations such as the Sicherheitsdienst (SD--the security and intelligence organization within the SS) and Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo—State Secret Police), was a criminal organization.1 The verdict placed on the SS was as follows:
6 million Jews died in the holocaust, only 177 Nazis ran for trial, 24 were sentenced to death, 20 to lifelong imprisonment, 98 other prison sentences, 25 were found not guilty. The holocaust was one of the most tragic and devastating events in human history, during which millions innocent lives were lost. The survivors of the Holocaust have left behind powerful narratives, and it is through literature that we can honor and remember the victims of this tragedy. Literature has played a crucial role in commemorating the Holocaust, and it continues to be a valuable tool for preserving memories of those who suffered during this dark period. By studying the Holocaust in literature, the oppressors' crimes are unveiled and the victims' stories are
Taking on this role in the Nuremberg trials required him to “determining the crimes with which the Nazi leaders would be charged, establishing the judicial procedures to be used, choosing a site for the trial, working out staggering logistic al problems created by many languages and represented countries, and actually trying the case” (Domnarksi 27). Justice Jackson had a particular gift of being able to identify a dramatic moment and capitalize on it. One moment of this came at the end of the Nuremberg trials during his closing argument. He started the statement with comparing the Hitler to Shakespeare’s Richard III and then finished the beautiful statement by saying, “If you were to say of these men hat they are not guilty, it would be as true to say there has been no war, there are no slain, there has been no crime” (E. London 506). Justice Jackson successfully prosecuted the Nazi war criminals in a system that had never before been established.
But where there is a winner there is always a loser, and Nazis never lose. “The consequence is your punishment. Ten of you will be chosen to be executed, as an example for any other bastard who dares attempted an escape”. Immenses of terror and trepidation fall upon me. The creaking sound of our bones squirming and whispers filled the camp.
Others considered the trials a stepping stone for the establishment of international laws. These laws were put into place in order to protect countries in future war times. The United Nations Genocide Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Geneva Convention of Laws and Customs of War were just a few outcomes from the Nuremburg Trials (Nuremburg

The 20th century was a time of both success and sadness, triumph and tragedy, however, no event in European history has been quite as disheartening as the Nazi Holocaust, the darkest hour in European History. In less than a decade, The Nazi Party murdered well over 6,000,000 Jews. 6,000,000 mothers, children, fathers, even babies. This tragedy was justified on the grounds that the people of the Jewish population were subhuman, a burden to the Nazi regime. Similar to the Jewish population of Europe, the people of Salem in The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, were unfairly sentenced to death without any justifiable reasoning, other than suspicion and hatred.

Many of these companies lost major parts of their upper management during the Nuremberg Trials, as their staff was Incarcerated as war criminals. This left a burgeoning wound on Europe's industrial capabilities. The International Tribunal attempted to limit the damage by Signifying a medial line between “immoral greed and pursuit of profit” (Erica Elsen, 2021). The political landscape of Europe was also irreparably changed in the outcome of the Nuremberg trials. Many politicians in Europe were imprisoned during the Nurembergrg trials, Some even committed suicide in the days before the trials took place.
The USSR, France, United States, and Britain agreed that the having a trial was the best to deal with the war criminals of the European Axis powers (The Gale Group, par 1). The London Charter created the International Military Tribunal (IMT), which were the four chief prosecutors of the Nuremberg trials (Jackson, page 4). Robert H. Jackson was representing the United States, Francois de Menthon representing France, Roman A. Rudenko
The soviet army liberated more than seven thousand prisoners out of the concentration camps. One criminal trial began, known as the Nuremberg. The Nuremberg trial took place because of these concentration camps. During this trial, twenty four former Nazi officials were trilled and about a year later, the judge decided ruled that, about half of the Nazi officers were going to be sentenced to death by
Finally, the Nuremberg trials were so significant because many Nazi soldiers fled to foreign countries just to avoid the Nuremberg trials. A number of Nazi’s fled to foreign countries to avoid the trials and consequences which proves they were guilty, and that is significant because if you weren’t guilty, you would go to court. The leader of the Nazi party, Adolf Hitler, “was not tried because he had committed suicide prior to the end of the war, with some of his closest aides also killing themselves” (Donald). W). The syllable of the syllable.
In a dingy wooden barrack, located in Auschwitz there housed several groups of men and women imprisoned living in wretched conditions, all praying for liberation. Such total institution has plagued their sanity. Each day they were treated like animals, deprived of food, beaten, and even stripped of their identity and dignity. During the years of 1933 to 1945,approximately 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. In conclusion, Schindler’s list illuminated the gruesome reality of what events took place during the holocaust.

The Nuremberg Trials were an important event in the history of international law. They were the first international criminal trials to prosecute individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, and were held in Nuremberg, Germany, between 1945 and 1946. Individual responsibility for international crimes was established because of the trials, and it is now a core principle of international law. The Nuremberg Trials also paved the way for the establishment of the International Criminal Court and other international tribunals to deal with international crimes. The trials had a long-term impact on human rights law and the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
