Nursing is often defined through much individuality. It is known for the advancement of the profession, protection we serve, prevention of illness and injury, and the advocacy of care for our patients, families, and communities. If we were to depict all the definitions out there of nursing, we would find that they all have the same general agreement and that nursing is continuously evolving each day. It is clear that nurses provide direct care and are on the front line. Everyone in the health care field plays a part in the delivery of care, but nurses play a crucial role every day due to the commitment and direct care experiences in improving the health of individuals. After speaking with a nurse manager, Alexis, his perspective of the nurse’s number one role in effective health care is to provide quality improvement and safety for the patient. The patient always comes first, no matter the situation. There are always new opportunities to deliver innocent care and integrate change when appropriate. It is priority to report and collect data in regards to keeping the patient safe at all times, provide direct feedback to patients and peers, and assisting health care providers in reducing any harm to the patient. All goals should be vibrant and precise. The staff is more likely to commit to meeting the expectations if they understand the motives behind them. Commitment and agreement, active listening, and understanding are also valuable qualities needed to achieve any goals. Being in management comes with increased responsibilities, as spoken about previously. The interviewee states he is also accountable for matching the consequences appropriately with the crime that was committed by individual. That is an important part of the job as a
