THE OFFICE SPEC SCRIPT Where does my spec script fit into the actually series? The Office is a half-hour comedy, making it a procedural series, not a serialised series. So what does this mean? It means that in The Office there is no large or overrunning storyline that is constantly present or hinted at each episode and also throughout the entire series. Instead each episode of The Office is self-contained, not influencing the episodes before or after. With this all in mind, my spec script doesn’t necessarily have a set position amongst the actual episodes that have already been made. However, what I can say is that my spec script takes place in the fourth season of The Office as it contains elements that are essential to my specific script, but only really happened in the fourth season of the series. They gather at Pam’s desk where she types on her computer. She states that she feels bad about doing this, but Jim convinces her to go on with the plan. He pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket, begins to read out letters and numbers as Pam types on the computer. Michael scours the office for games to play. He runs into Kevin who just finished setting up the game “Dance, Dance Revolution”. Michael challenges a reluctant Kevin to a dance off, but he refuses. However, after Michael trashes talks and threatens Kevin. He finally excepts the game. They battle. Andy sulks at his desk when Toby enters all excited. Toby reveals that his daughter has won a drawing competition. All the office employees congratulates Toby and comments on his daughter’s drawing talent. Andy gets mad. He questions: “Why is she met with praise and love, and I don’t?”. His co-workers state that it is different situation. Andy doesn’t except it, he goes on to saying that age it just a number.
