In the comic “The Origin of Captain America”, writer Stan Lee unfolds a story on how the most Americanized duo is formed. The story takes place during World War II, when America is desperate for a hero. Steve Rogers is chosen by the army for an experiment, because of his courage, the experiment is going to change his life forever. Dr. Erskine creates a serum that transforms a frail Steve Rogers into a sturdy and powerful soldier known as Captain America. When Steve drinks the serum everybody stands back. They witness Steve start glowing as he begins to grow. Steve becomes taller and extremely muscular. After witnessing the effects of the experiment, it was time to get the serum to all of the soldiers to ensure the strongest army. But just after the experiment a German spy barges in and kills Dr. Erskine, who is the only person who knows the classified formula. Everyone thinks that Steve is an ordinary soldier, but when his country needs him he is Captain America. But one night while Steve is changing into his Captain America costume his friend Bucky Barnes walks in on him. To keep his identity confidential, Steve agrees to train his eager friend to be Captain America’s sidekick. After months of intense training, Bucky is finally given a uniform. Shortly after, he is given his first mission to put his training to test. During their first mission the duo spots a Nazi submarine and a raft full of explosives heading toward the shoreline. That’s when Captain America and Bucky jump into action and take out the men that were aboard the raft. After they tie their enemies up they take care of the explosives, they load the explosives onto the raft and send it back to the submarine. Once the raft made it to the Nazis submarine it explodes.
