Above all he cared for Johnny the most because he was the “gang's pet”, Dally cared about Johnny so much that when Johnny died Dally came up with a plan to die too. Another way Dally cared for the gang is that when Johnny and Ponyboy was at the Church reading Gone With The Wind Johnny said that the Southern boys reminded him of Dally because on night the fuzz came because Two-bit broke the windows at the school but Dally took the blame without batting an eye when he could have let Two-bit get in trouble. Dally even broke out of the hospital to help fight in the rumble. Some may say that Dallas didn't do anything and it was Johnny who was the hero although if Dally didn't help Johnny and Ponyboy they would have went straight to the police and most likely would have been put in jail which would have caused them to not be the same soft people they
He didn’t care, after finding out that johnny has died he goes crazy and robs a store. As he is running out he gets shot in his lower abdomen but still runs off. He calls Pony, Steve, Two-bit, Darry, and Soda, when they get to the vacant lot where he was surrounded by policemen, he pulled out an unloaded gun, he wanted to die that 's why he did it, he was gunned down by the police. Dally not only died a hero to Johnny, he died a hero to many others as well. Dally showed his courage when he put his life at risk to help Johnny and Ponyboy run away from the crime they committed, and he also saved Johnny and Ponyboy from the fire inside of the church. Dally might have been cowardly in some parts of The Outsiders ,but his heroic acts to Ponyboy, Johnny, and other members of the gang show that he died a hero. First of all, Dally died a hero because he helped Ponyboy and Johnny hide from the crime that they committed even though he took a risk in doing so. Dally gave information to two wanted criminals on where to hide, and the police were not as nice to Greasers as they were to Socs.
“Because your back was in flames, that’s why. ”(Hinton Pg. 94) Dallas is so selfless that he was willing to hurt himself in order to save Ponyboy. Dallas also crawled back into the church and risked his life to save Johnny. Dally’s acts of selflessness make him a hero in “The Outsiders”.
Dallas Winston, the “Outsider” Ponyboy and his gang are all considered “Outsiders” but there is one greaser from their gang that stands out the most with the title of “Outsider”. Dallas Winston is a hoodlum from New York who had been arrested many times since he was 10 years old. His parents weren’t around when he was growing up, and this really affected his life because he didn’t have anyone to tell him what to do. The author chose this title for the book because she wanted to give an immediate example of how the greasers were treated back then. In the novel The Outsiders, written by S.E. Hinton, there are many characters that could be considered “Outsiders”; but Dally is the biggest “Outsider” in the story.
In the novel, the Outsiders, S.E Hinton portrays all characters except of Dally with very straightforward personalities because, as the book ends, the readers are able to see the unexpected. Dally’s tough and fearless personality appeared more like heroic and emotional as we conclude the novel. Besides, we readers we’d always pictured Dally like any other hoodlum but as we see him face real-life situations and his gestures towards them, we are genuinely taken away by his new character. We start to realize, how all this while it was Dally’s life experience that seemed to have chosen the path for him, which is why the person inside of him never had the chance.
“The wail of a siren grew louder and then a police car pulled up across the street from the lot.” This was on page 153. However, there are many other pages! What about those pages? What about a man named Dally?
Even though he has done some really bad things, he still has good inside of him. Dally is a great example of how no matter what your background is you can still commit an act of heroism. The best example is when during the fire in the church, a falling timber hits Johnny and Dally runs in to save him. One of the teachers of the kids that Ponyboy and Johnny saved, describes Dally’s action like this. “He burned one arm pretty badly… trying to drag the other kid out the window.”
Ponyboy’s Differences with Dally In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, a greaser named Ponyboy spends a fair amount of time fending off a rich gang called the Socs. He relies only on his greaser brothers and friends to stay safe and live life. Dally is Despite both being greasers, Ponyboy is an honest, To begin with, Ponyboy is young and innocent, but Dallas is experienced and hard.
Dally has soft spots for a certain person, Johnny. Johnny was the only person Dally loved. One page 149, he says as Johnny is dying, “Dammit Johnny…. Oh, damnit, Johnny, don’t die, please don’t die.” (Hinton 149).
While all the characters in the novel have meaningful friendships, Dally’s portrayal stands out. Once Johnny decides that he is going to turn himself in for the murder of Bob Sheldon, Dally tells him “Johnny, I ain't mad at you. I just don't want you to get hurt. You don't know what a few months in jail can do to you. You get hardened in jail.

Julia and Winston together feel as though they are real human beings, with emotions and impulses, exactly what the Party wishes to squander. Although Winston and Julia’s love is based on their shared dislike of the Party, their reasons for rebelling vary greatly from each other.
He seems to have no emotions, and as it said on page , Dally can take any amount of punishment. “ Dally had spent three years on the wild side of New York and had been arrested at the age of ten. He was tougher than the rest of us……..” (Hinton, 10) . “He had quite a reputation.
Dally is not strong mentally (when he couldn’t let Johnny go), he really does not do good deeds, and he does not care about any other people than only Johnny, and he’s rude to others and bad at using words. A quotation that supports my statement is, “What for? Get back in here before I beat your head in.” (p.90) This quotation supports my statement because Dally said this to Ponyboy when he hopped off the car and said to see what the deal is when he saw the old church on fire, it proves that Dally does not care about other stuff that does not involve him and that he’s rude to others and using
(1.48) After Johnny died, Dally makes an enormous sacrifice that took away his life. He loved Johnny so much that he couldn't take the fact he was gone. Dally was known to be the most cold-blooded member of the gang but after Johnny's death, he was the one who showed the most affection. Dally wouldn’t have been shot if he didn’t love Johnny so much, and sacrificed himself.
