Technology has a significant change in society because now we focus on technology instead of other normal activities in society and because it has taken away our enjoyment of doing other tasks besides being on social media. In the short story, The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, depicts a world where technology has taken over the lives of society. Everyone stays at home, viewing their screens, not stepping foot outside. In fact, there is only one man left who chooses to simply walk out at night. This man is viewed as an outlier, someone who needs to be taken to a mental institution, since the idea of walking outside is ridiculous and unbelievable (Bradbury). She talked about how she had gone into "airplane mode" during her vacation—not checking emails, messages, calls, no social media at all—and how she had felt phantom notifications anyways.
