Karl Lagerfeld once said, “Personality begins where comparison ends”. When trying to figure out who you are as a person and what your personality is like it is often tempting to compare your personality traits and states to those of the people around you. However, this is tends to do more to confuse than help when trying to figure out your own personality. Only by looking at yourself and the bigger picture your personality traits and states create that you can truly understand yourself and your personality. The two assessments taken before this assignment are designed to help with this process. The Personality-Style Assessment or Keirsey Temperament Sorter focused more on personal style based. The questions asked in this assessment varied and covered multiple areas of my life and personality. This assessment felt similar to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In the textbook the author points out that the mother daughter duo believe that, ‘many of the differences we see in people have to do with the “way people prefer to use their minds”’(Worthington & Fitch-Hauser, 2012). In the Keirsey Temperament Sorter however, the exploration into personality was narrowed to just the exploration of a person’s temperament or, “that part of the personality that is “inborn”’(Worthington & Fitch-Hauser, 2012). In this personality survey I was determined to be an “idealist”. The second assessment, Conflict Style/ Leadership Style Assessment or The Leadership Legacy Assessment, however was a conflict management and critical thinking focused assessment instrument. This survey questioned how you interact with others in a professional setting. From the information gathered through these questions it was able to score me in six different leadership style categories. In regards to the Keirsey Temperament Sorter results, though I don’t often think of myself as an idealist, I do have many of the markings of one. My often blind faith in intuition, yearn for romance and wisdom, and the pride I take in being kindhearted and loving mark me as one of the rare 15-20 percent of the population who has an idealist temperament. However, when it comes to the results of the Leadership Legacy Assessment I find myself conflicted. I agree very heartily that “experienced guide” would be the best title for my leadership style, I would like to believe that I would have scored higher when it comes to being an “advocate” style leader. I know this is an area in which I need improvement, but I thought that I was further along in the process of bettering this style of leadership than this assessment indicates. In all other areas, I agree with the results. I am strong in many areas, but whether it is “creative builder” or “people mover” style leadership I always have room for
