The theme of the book “A day no pigs would die” is the changes of a boy growing to a man and coming-of-age. The main character, Robert Peck, is at a stage in his life that he must mature. He is challenged and is coming-of-age to uphold important responsibilities. He must learn to accept responsibilities, assume new roles, and take charge in situations. These factors come into the book to help Robert grow as a person and mature into a man.
For example, “I raise my finger like it was loaded, and I pointed it at Arthur. ‘I saw you kill Luis Cruz.’” (page 262). In this section of the book, Paul finally learns to stand up for himself to Erik and Arthur after years of being afraid. He even causes Erik to lose control and go into a full rage.
When Paul had his eyes spay painted by Erik it forever changed him and caused him to be visually impaired. The book “Tangerine” is packed full of suspense and has a plot twist for what seems like every page. I believe that almost all middle school students could find something to enjoy in “Tangerine”, but especially ones like sports. One person I would recommend “Tangerine” to is my sister because she is entertained by sports books.
The story “The Pigman” by Paul Zindel is a very good book in my opinion. The book is about two kids who’s avocation is pranking. They love to prank people when they are with eachother. When they prank people they sometimes mortify them and try to make them look bad or stupid. In the story the one main charachter Lorraine, called a man by the name of Angelo Pignati and he anwsered the phone.
Paul’s fear blinds him at first, and he cannot see how broken his family is. When Paul tells the police about Erik He admits that he cannot stand up to his brother: “‘Do we have your statement, son?’ ‘No, sir.’ Then I felt compelled to add, ‘I wasn’t brave enough to give my statement’” (285).
As an option for paul he was offered a spot in a new junior high called Tangerine middle school, Paul chose to attend Tangerine Middle as a fresh new start which included no IEP. When Paul had arrived at Tangerine Middle he had heard many rumors about gangs and how all of the students who attended Tangerine middle where bad news and he was advised not to get involved with them. He still ended up going to Tangerine middle and being escorted around school by a girl named Theresa Cruz. Theresa introduced Paul to all of her friends which in the beginning where not the greatest of people yet Paul saw their real personality deep down on the inside and eventually became quite good friends with all of them. Paul had ended up asking Ms. Bright, the coach of Tangerine Middles soccer team to be on the soccer team and a surprise to Paul she had said yes.
Although Paul got expelled he found some truth in himself. Also in the student's eyes, Paul was no longer a loser. This is when Paul finally feels comfortable in his own skin. Clearly, Paul’s character is affected by him jumping on the coach’s back.
Edward Bloor’s Tangerine suggests that Paul’s choices, big or small, has a huge impact on the development of Paul’s character. The first choice, Paul choosing to go to Tangerine Middle School, is caused by a bit of reasons, which allows him to join the soccer team. First, Paul sacrifices attention to join Tangerine’s soccer team. “‘I don’t mind if you never pay any attention to me for the rest of my life, just give me this chance’”(Bloor 59).
The Lord Of The Flies by William Golding is a book about a plane full of boys crashing on an island. The boys are by themselves no adults so they have to survive on their own and establish their own government. Piggy is one of the first characters we meet as a boy with poor eyesight, a weight problem and asthma so the readers already like him even if no one else likes him. Piggy is the closest thing the boys have to an adult on the island. Throughout the story Piggy embraces the character traits of being intellectually intelligent, Mature and loyal.
Imagine you are a twelve-year-old and you are on an abandoned island with a bunch of kids your age, you have an abundance of great ideas but, because you are not built and muscular no one heeds your advice, that is exactly how the character Piggy felt. First, Piggy has no qualities that kids stranded on a deserted island view as useful. Secondly, all of the character, with the exception of Piggy, adhere the principle of survival of the fittest in order to survive. Finally, Piggy is used to demonstrate the idea that humanity is reliant on power to escalate their country instead of trying to advance their country through science and mathematics. The character, Piggy, is part of a broader spectrum that one might not pick up on the first interpretation of the novel.
Author, William Golding, in his novel, "Lord of the Flies," follows a group of British boys who are stranded on an uninhabited island and try to govern themselves. One of the boys, Piggy, is constantly bullied and considered a nuisance by the power-hungry boys on the island. Golding's use of an isolated setting in the midst of the other boys illustrates Piggy's struggle to liberate himself from their oppression. However the need to survive reveals Piggy's inventiveness and rational mindset.
In the novel The Running Man by Michael Gerard Bauer, the author captures the experiences of a marginalised character, Tom Leyton. The use of the silkworm metaphor invites the audience to uncover the dark secrets of Tom Leyton 's mysterious past. The introduction of the character Joseph Davidson provides the author with a catalyst to open the metaphor of the silkworm and take the reader on a journey to understand the life experiences of Tom Leyton. Joseph Davidson, who is portrayed as someone with poor self esteem is also described as an outsider. The running man is used by the author to reveal the experiences of Joseph Davidson and demonstrate his growth of becoming less marginalised throughout the novel.
Lord Of The Flies Every obstacle in life makes you stronger even if at the time you think you’re going through hell and don’t know how you’re going to get out. In the novel Lord Of The Flies by William Golding the author uses many ways in each different situation to develop the theme of the novel. Every story has situations that are shocking to the reader, and this book was great at letting the reader know what’s going on before the character. Character development was very big in this book as each boy changed towards the end.
1.-(A)The novel “Of Mice and Men” is a tragedy because it is about a basically good person,Lennie,who suffers a fall brought about by something in his nature therefore provoking emotions of pity and fear to the reader. Lennie is a basically good person because his actions didn’t had any cruel or evil intentions. For instance, on page 9 and 10, when Lennie and George are talking, George tells Lennie that he always kills mice and he answers “I´d pet´em,and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then he was dead—because they was so little.” He was a really innocent person, however his nature and actions got him in a lot of problems.
Stephanie Plum, Morelli, and Ranger are three main characters in the book, One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie is a young woman struggling to get by in the city of Trenton, New Jersey. After losing her job, she goes against her family’s request and gets the dangerous job of a bounty hunter. She gets assigned Joe Morelli, who was accused of murder and who happened to be a childhood enemy. Stephanie is very inexperienced and receives help from a professional bounty hunter, Ranger.
