After conquering various territories, Rome had the positive and negative effects. Here, I will talk about the negative effects particularly in government, the behavior of the Romans, and its civilization. One of the negative effects of Rome's conquest was that they became ambitious in that they loved to stay in power. Another negative effect was that they became avaricious as they started to do things or to make wealth for themselves instead of looking after the welfare of the people . For example, the aristocratic class started making themselves rich from the spoils of war and their office ignoring the interest of the republic. The Roman governors in their provinces started making money for three things that is to bribe the jurors in case they were trialed for their misconduct, to keep themselves, and to pay their debt …show more content…

This was not good as it disgraced the Roman republic and it made the provincials to be in poverty. The fourth negative effect is that the Roman religion was corrupted by foreign influence like that of the Greeks which was introduced in Rome. This was introduced by the Greeks who were taken from Greece either as slave or as those who were removed from Greece to prevent them from stirring revolts. These started to work for the Romans in Rome as tutors and that is how they introduced their religion and corrupted Rome's. The fifth negative effect was the evils of slave labor (forumromanum, 2017). The territories which were conquered brought in a lot of slaves which started to work for their Roman masters for free because they were bought. These slaves worked in farms or fields of their masters such that those Roman citizens who were poor or become bankrupt could not find work to revive themselves on.
