PO Hale stated that, approximately an hour after they responded to the 311 loud noise complaint at 727 DeKalb Avenue, he went to the stationhouse to use the bathroom. Upon entering the stationhouse with PO Ortega, he noticed some of the civilians from 727 DeKalb Avenue next to the T/S operator PO Milton. PO Hale was unsure of how many civilians were near PO Milton; however he noted that there were possibly five civilians. More people suffer from homelessness than we realize. We often take for granted having a home to go to. I completely agree with Anna about her feelings on homelessness. I often see the homeless on the side of the road and I normally refer to them as homeless people but what I fail to realize is, that “homeless person” has a name, that “homeless guy” is a human being just like the rest of us longing for certainty, stability and privacy. Those “homeless people” are human beings without a home.

Hawaii’s outrageously expensive housing market heavily impacts working-class families as they face the highest housing costs in the nation. Not only does Hawaii’s housing market exceed most price ranges that families would enjoy, but many of the families looking for homes simply do not earn enough to afford market rents.
Why does a popular and expensive tourist spot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean have so many homeless people? People dream of vacationing and living the good life in Hawaii. However, there are many people in Hawaii who live in homelessness. The Hawaiian government is trying to help the homeless with numerous efforts. The government has announced that they are using the program, Housing First, which is a nation-wide program known to be the most efficient way to getting people who are suffering from chronic illness off the streets (“Housing First”).
Why do people say homeless people are an issue? What do you think happened or cause them to be homeless? what could we do about ?, In matter of facts there are over hundreds of homeless people in Oahu,Hawaii especially in Waikiki. People thought we should remote them into another island.
The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness doesn’t just mean you don’t have a roof over your head, it means you don’t have food, a good education, a healthy lifestyle, or a warm place to sleep every night. Some people don’t think very highly about homeless people, they think that it's their fault that they are where they are in life. Homelessness is going to end up becoming a bigger problem.

Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. There is a lot of Homeless families in Hawaii; between 12 - 15,000 to be exact. The way I thought to help these people is by teaching them job etiquette. I think my idea is great because they can have a chance to get a job if they know job etiquette. It’s also easy and simple. It can help a lot of families.

This rise in both the cost of living as well as the need for higher wages proves that the standard of minimum wage needs a major increase.
The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
The subject of homelessness is not universally discussed in society because many people are either ignorant or unwilling to get involved to help. Although it is taboo, every day people are faced with or see homelessness. Many times driving under freeway passes or through highly populated cities, the homeless population can be seen everywhere. California has the densest homeless population in the United States, which is Skid Row in Los Angeles. In the state of California, the effects of homelessness continue to be an ongoing challenge for not only citizens but law enforcement and elected officials.
