Questioning what we do, who we are, and why we do things is something that drives mankind forward. As humans, we wonder and question the unknown not only because we are curious beings but also because we are afraid of it. Individuals enter a state of fear and anxiety when something is not known. Humans need to know and grasp what is going on, in order to understand the world we live in. Finding these answers through reason, observation and open discussion is what drives us to philosophical thinking. Philosophy, the love of wisdom, has become an academic influence, not only to adults, but to children as well. This academic discipline is found in all different parts of the educational curriculum and encourages open-mindedness. It has taught people around the world how to question the society we live in and be open-minded. Although, there are some people whom believe that the future of philosophy is not bright, there is evidence to think that it is still important to the modern day world. Philosophy can help shape the minds of our future generations and embed morals through applying Socratic wisdom, thinking, analyzing, and questioning. Good philosophy can assist with the progression of bioethics in medicine and improve quality of life for many patients. Philosophy is the core of understanding our existence, our minds, and our bodies.
