The Progression of Technology Based on Condorcet’s ideologies and values, he would be a techno realist. Condorcet values the growth and development of the human mind. He believed that with the use of technology, humans could reach their fullest potential possible, as long as it wasn’t used in place of the brain (Halsall). For example, as technology advances and becomes more available, it can become educational. Advancements in technology are enough, they can always be “better”. Therefore, the human mind is always being tested/ thinking critically to create something new. As far as the pricing battle between Amazon and Hachette goes, Amazon is making books better available to people, whether that be because of the price or the accessibility. The use of eBooks is helping develop humans into more intelligent people. The price difference goes to show how cutting back on other costs, in this case production costs, can sell more books. As said in the Vanity Fair article, Amazon's stance was that lower pricing increases demand (Geesen). This is an example of positive progress within technology, although there are disagreements on revenue, one cannot deny that eBooks, in general, have made more of the world educated. Both Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg developed technology in ways different than Amazon. One creates a space of individuality and connection while the other a place to share memories with the world. Apple is progressing technology through its products in a creative way. People were able to design a space that was specific to themselves, giving each person a sense of individuality.
