The Journey of Women’s Rights You may wonder, what are women's rights? Women's rights are rights that promote a position of legal and social equality of women and men. In the past and even in the present women have struggled with equality. This could be with religion, race, gender, and color. The Progressive Era was where there were issues with labor rights,women's suffrage, and economic reform. The main point I will be talking about is women's suffrage. The progressive era helped show how badly women were getting treated. The women were fighting for the end of child labor, and workplace safety. Throughout the progressive era there was a war. This war was called World War One. With the war and the progressive era there was a lot of chaos.Although there were a lot of negative effects there were also some positives. During the progressive era women finally got rights to own property. This was good because women could finally have a say in what they could own. One reason why fighting for women's rights is important is because it helps make the world a better place. For instance when everyones equal there is less democracy. When everyone's equal everyone is happier. There is less to worry about. Women don’t have to worry about getting treated unfairly. Another reason why is because it shows that women are worth more than being a stay at home mom or a wife. When you fight for women's rights it shows that women have just as much power as men do. They can do the same things that men do. This could be with sports, work, etc. One more reason why fighting for women's rights is important is because it shows that we should stop stereotyping.
