Acceptance – In this book, I think that the main theme of it is acceptance. All of the characters that appear to be Cece’s friend, are very accepting that she has a hearing aid. Although some break up with her, but at the start they don’t tease Cece of why she is deaf. Tenuous – At the start, Cece was weak and she needed support to get used to being deaf. She was weak and fragile in the beginning of this book, she a lot of support. Nurture – In my opinion, this is a word that I think best describes Cece. She continues to grow throughout the book. It feels like you are spectating someone’s life, their main events and what has happened to them to bring to who they are currently. Exposed – Cece is always been exposed to danger, bullying, and teasing. Being deaf can be an excuse that someone uses to tease someone, and so is with tons of other attributes. In one part, a kid broke her pencil because he thought it was “funny”. Naturalness – Your life will never be always happy, and always up at the top. I think that this book frames your ups and downs during life exceptionally well, and what problems you might be going through in the friend zone. But in reality, Cece really wanted them to get back together, but Martha kept thinking the opposite. I remember when I was 3 years old, I was playing around with my friend, and we accidentally dropped a glass cup. A shard of the glass cut my eye, and to this day now I still have a scar. Ever since that had happened, I had never contacted or have met with that friend again. I tried knocking on his door once, but when he saw me he just ran away. He thought that it was his fault that my eyelid was cut. Ever since then, we moved to Canada and I don’t even know who he is
