This case study highlights the conflict that can arise between nurse practitioners (NP) and physicians due to lack of proper communication, poor physician attitude, and lack of respect. Clarin (2007) labels these items as barriers that inhibit effective collaborative care and ultimately hinders the goal of medical institutions. In this case study, the way that the physician treated the new NP encourages other physicians in the practice or staff members that it is acceptable to treat another provider in this manner. This poor behavior will continue the cycle of disrespect and distrust when we should be collaborating with one another in the healthcare field. Not to mention, creates an unhealthy work environment.
The venue will be progressive care unit and the medical-surgical unit since both units come under same Nursing director and education nurse. Acceptance from the leadership team and main stakeholders is important to begin the project. This author will discuss about the importance DVT prevention and problems to follow to DVT protocol with the nursing director. This author will use the evidence from the literature reviews to convince how important to prevent this never event. With the support of nursing director, this author can discuss the problems and solutions with management team, finance department, risk managers, quality care team and the nursing staff to obtain adequate support and understanding of the project.
You have to get to know the patient before the surgery and you meet with them after the surgery has concluded. You get to know them so you know what type of anesthetic and how much of it to get the patient asleep and numb to the pain for the entire duration of the surgery. You have to be careful because this is also a very dangerous job because you could kill the patient if you administer too much drugs not to mention the fact that you could get sued for killing the patient and lose everything including your nursing license forever. Then you would never be able to be a surgeon or any related field again especially anesthesiologist you would be lucky to get a job at McDonald's because you killed someone.
The impact of nurse rounding on patient satisfaction in a medical-surgical hospital unit (Blakley, Kroth, & Gregson, 2011) Case Study Purpose: To determine if patient and nurse satisfaction is influenced by intentional nurse rounding every 2 hours on a medical-surgical unit in a small community hospital setting. Level V Setting: Medical-surgical inpatient unit N = 200 Criteria: persons who have been hospital inpatients within the last 6 months. Patient satisfaction data was collected on a weekly basis and summarized by the Gallup Organization Patient satisfaction scores steadily increased in conjunction of the rounding program. Overall patient satisfaction was 3.5 (on a scale of 1-4, where 1

I got to see several ways that nurses provide care for their patients. I observed ICU nurses care for their ill, elderly patients. I witnessed physical therapy nurses assist their patients to ambulate immediately post-surgery. I noticed how fast ER nurses work to triage their patients. I learned a lot from those nurses but could not decide which unit was meant for me.
