In society today, there is a huge debate whether assisted suicide should be legal or illegal. If an individual is suffering and living a poor quality of life due to a medical issue, than the doctors could give them a needle that contains a serum that will put them to rest peacefully. In Canada it is legal as of June 2016 for a physician to assist with assisted suicide. Giving the choice for individuals to live or die can be seen as an act of kindness considering it is letting the individuals choose what's best for their quality of life.“...Now is the time for simplicity. Knowing that the cancer was going to take her life, we did our best to make that last month the best we could, nevertheless it was hard. The cancer had taken over her entire body. The doctors had her on strong painkillers to try to ease the pain. She was suffering. The majority of individuals hope that they pass away in their sleep, painless and quick. Why should individuals who suffer from incurable cancer have to suffer through the pain while living a horrible last month, or week? If I was to die, I would want to die knowing that I spent the end of my life well, not laying in a hospital bed just waiting for my heart to stop, and my organs to fail. Every Individual in Canada falls under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Individuals have the right to speak and make choices for themselves. Not allowing assisted suicide in Canada is violating the Rights and Freedoms of the Canadian citizens.
