Censorship is necessary to prevent offending the moral values of others. All beliefs, cultures, and religions deserve respect. Some art, for example a picture of one religion prosecuting another, would offend certain people and create a feeling that some people's beliefs are superior to others. Uncensored art would have a possibility of making discrimination a bigger problem. Recently, with the rise of ISIS, censorship has become even more necessary. Allowing terrorist to express their views could lead to the recruitment of others. Art created by groups full of hate contains gruesome images of prosecuting a certain race or religion. All races and religion should be protected and feel safe and equal. Censorship would also be necessary for a country in a state of danger. It violates the first amendment by restricting free speech. Just as all beliefs, cultures, and religions deserve to be respected, they all deserve the right to express themselves as well. Some forms of these expressions may be offensive, but it is their right to hold and express these opinions. Censorship restricts artists’ creativity. Art, whether it’s obscene or a threat, is a person expressing themselves. Art comes in many forms and means different things to different people. Restricting an artist, restricts the different viewpoints which would make our society oblivious of other’s beliefs. Censorship also might prohibit citizens of a nation from speaking out about unfair treatment from the government. It is necessary for citizens to publicly speak out against the government in order to prevent the government from becoming too controlling. If a government begins to restrict basic rights from its citizens, a revolution is necessary for the people to be free which is only can be sparked if people’s work is uncensored.
