“Remember that children marriages, and flower gardens reflect on the kind of care they get.” says Jackson Brown Jr. as he is speaking about how to respect our future generation. Child abduction is all forms of child abuse, neglect, exploitation, and missing-often sexually abused. Child abduction is a significant problem and the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center works to help those who are affected by child abductions. Child abduction is a serious problem that should not be ignored. For example, every 10 minutes there is an attempt of child abduction (Otto). For example, the JWRC educates students (children), parents, and teachers on the following: internet and cell safety, cyber bullying, how to talk to your kids safely, recognizing risky behaviors and common lures (Prevention Education). This proves that the JWRC is trying to help solve the problem of child abductions because they are teaching people how to prevent child abductions. They have information online and on paper (phablet). The JWRC is truly trying to terminate this misfortune. Another example that shows the JWRC is working to stop child abductions is that they present on topics like about Jacob Wetterling, a boy who was abducted in 1989 which is also what this organization originated from. They also talk about online safety, how to report a child abduction, bullying, domestic violence, etc. (Workshops and Webcast). This shows the JWRC is working to conclude child abductions because they are not only providing free information, but they are more than willing to speak to parents about how to protect their own kids along with how to protect them. They also present to classes about how to be an overall safe child. One last fact that proves the JWRC is working to end child abductions is that they allow individuals to donate and volunteer. 185, 201 kids are abducted every year in Minnesota alone. Everytime a child is abducted, a life is transfigured and will never be the same (Otto). This proves kids in Minnesota are suffering and we need to change that as a community because we are creating the community. Another example that proves you need to help out is that 51% of kids will get a job after they graduate. They behold our future in they way they live (CNBC). This shows that they will run the U.S. in 40 years. Since that is true, do we really want to harm our kids? Think about your actions are how they are affecting our future. Jaycee Dugard, a girl who was kidnapped at the age of 11 until she was 29, says, “It was so much a part of my life...It’s always there, in the back of my mind. It never really goes away” (ABC News). This shows that those who are affected by child abductions are forever changed. Jaycee is more than grateful to survive yet the evil in eternally within her. We do not want this for our children.
