Imagine a world where dinosaurs exist again… a Jurassic World. Should scientists bring back extinct species, like that of the dinosaurs? De-extinction is no longer a thing of science fiction; scientists have been trying to clone a Wooly Mammoth since the summer of 2011. Sadly scientists have said that the actual dinosaurs, like that of a T-Rex, have been dead for too long and therefore cannot be brought back. De- Extinction is could be great thing and it would greatly increase the planets biodiversity, it would be good for the environment, and it would be good for the economy, because who would not pay to see a dinosaur in real life?

The process of recreating these organisms is actually very simple. An article about de-extinction says, “It involves taking old DNA samples, reassembling them into a full genome which is then injected into embryonic cells which have had their own DNA taken out, and then finding a suitable living surrogate to give birth”(thejournal.ie). Scientists have actually been successful in bringing back an extinct species of goat called the Pyrenean ibex. If they bring back an extinct species like the Pyrenean ibex it would require a large amount of money. National Geographic put out an article about de-extinction, it says, “A resurrected Pyrenean ibex will need a safe home, not just its food plants” (Pimm). If the plants that the ibex ate are now extinct then we will have to spend even more money to bring those back. Since they cannot just release the ibex back into the wild they would have to build them places to live. It has been found out that the ibex did not go extinct naturally, it was killed and eaten by hunters. So if they bring them back how do we know that this will not happen
