Technology has greatly impacted the lives of people all around the world. As many has discussed, there are advantages as well as disadvantages of the fast progression of technology. There is no denying that humans have gotten very dependent on technology especially the city dwellers. But now, the question that plagues everyone’s mind is ‘How has creativity and communication been affected by our dependence on technology?’ First and foremost, we have to say that a major difference caused by technology is in communications. We have advanced from smoke signals and messenger pigeons to telegrams and letters to finally, emails and social media. We now depend on Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime and many more apps to communicate with our loved ones over long distances. It is most definitely convenient as we do not have to wait days to receive a reply from a friend on the other side of the world. Now, with a tap of a button, the faces of our loved ones appear on our screens in an instant. However, when we rely on social media, we tend to ignore our surroundings. When we chat with our friends online, we take no notice of the people around us. Our family and friends are thrown away for our cold, hard devices. We have replaced our smiles, laughs and tears for emoticons and abbreviations such as LOL, which means Laugh Out Loud. Now, whenever you go out for dinner, you can see everyone on their phones. Families, couples and friends would be actively scrolling through
