The Pros And Cons Of Fracking

519 Words3 Pages

Fracking is natural gases that are release from the below ground rock formation. They have been experimenting with this for years to come. But fracking can also have its pros and cons in the future. Fracking effects air pollution, gas leaks, drinking water, communities, and earthquakes. There are a few reasons fracking could be done differently or if they change how they can better the technology. First, one of the main issue in fracking is how it effects the air pollution. These natural gases can produce harmful fumes in the air and have had early deaths of thousands of people each year. This can be considered health hazards to humans but is still to be unknown. Fracking is the burning of coal. Fracking can pollute the air hundred miles away with little to no fracking and greenhouse gas is used to reduce the reliance of coal. Coal is one of the …show more content…

This can contaminate the drinking supply making it bubbly or flammable in different communities. In each community there are fracking operations a mile away from home. Why would they do this so close to homes if it would affect the water supply? Then being this close to homes can interfere with the air pollution to. This is an intensive water operation that can require millions of gallons with this drilling and extraction. A lot of this can ruin homes.
Third, drilling thousands of miles in the ground can cause earthquakes soon. There have been minor earthquakes, but it has not affect any residents. It has been at least 21 earthquakes a year due to fracking since 2011 and the rate has rose to about 100 yearly. By doing this they should reduce the drilling to limit the number of earthquakes since the numbers went up. They should team up with geologists to see if the next spot there going to start fracking with cause any hazards in that area. After that they should plan how they should go about how to reduce
